Dayboard, a calendar with moving parts

ABR Producción is a young, Barcelona-based furniture design studio which was set up in 2005. Its portfolio encompasses lamps, side tables, chairs, coat hangers, shelving as well as the idiosyncratic Virgin Mary computer memory stick – an idea dreamt up by designer Luis Eslava, who is part of the ABR Producción team.

The studio’s mix of adventurous risk-taking, humour and youthfulness has created a niche for it on the Spanish design scene. It collaborates as much with established designers like Toni Arola, Joan Gaspar, Ramón Ubeda and Pete Sans as with younger designers like Eslava and Toni Pallejá.

On the occasion of the last International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, which ABR participated in alongside 21 other Spanish brands, the company unveiled an unusual idea: Dayboard, a calendar with moveable elements created by Norwegian design studio StokkeAustad, which comprises 432 magnets in different colours (each one for a different day of the year) arranged on a metal lacquered panel. Also on show at its stand was another new product: the Latten shelving unit, designed by ABB itself.
