Code, the new outdoor piece from Andreu World
Code is a charming sun lounger with a gentle yet definite shape that curves up from the floor, creating a very sculptural piece which interacts with the space under it. In the shapely, continuous surface uniting backrest and seat, there is a lattice-like grid of holes, which creates an interesting pattern of light and shade on the ground below when bright light shines on to the chair.
The chair’s continuous structure encases all the elements that make up the lounger, also integrating the mechanism that operates the various, adjustable back positions. The smoothness of the lounger’s surface combined with its geometric yet curvaceous design makes Code a pleasing design. It is also very comfortable and, being lightweight, portable. The lounger is a good example of design which looks modern but isn’t too stark since its silhouette has a strong sense of rhythm and lots of character. All pieces in the Code collection are made of a wood with a lacquered finish specially designed for outdoor use.
With Code, Andreu World demonstrates once again that it is firmly committed to producing outdoor furniture. It constantly introduces new pieces to its division, Andreu World Outdoor. This was launched in 2008 and its first collection was LandscapeOne, a complete range designed by Liévore, Altherr y Molina.
Fifty years old this year, Andreu World is currently one of Spain’s leading exporters of contemporary furniture. Over the years, it has earned international recognition and is now very prestigious. Thanks to the modern, elegant, understated design of its products, in particular its seating, the firm has been approached to furnish public and private buildings all around the world.
Andreu World has always worked with some of the best Spanish designers, such as Ximo Roca, Josep Lluscá, Jorge Pensi and Liévore, Altherr y Molina, and in recent years it has also begun to collaborate with the world’s most respected interior design professionals.
