Lighting
Topa: light and shadows
B.Lux’s brand new street light.
Topa is a new type of urban/ street lighting which, monolithic and boasting sharp, architectural lines, is manufactured by Spanish lighting company B.Lux.
It’s made of a metallic prism which creates a light-filled hollow and projects a beam of light outwards (so the light doesn’t shine in all directions). It was designed by the architects GC Studio whose aim was to create a pleasing effect of light and shade in street settings – and enhance a sense of wellbeing in urban environments.
Made of galvanised steel, although also available with a painted surface, it’s extremely resistant to weathering. And its neutral style means that it suits all types of contemporary architecture.
Topa has already been used for a new re-housing development in north Spain’s Basque Country, which makes use of several versions of the new light.
