RS Barcelona’s Eiffel stool
A design by Shigeki Fujishiro.
Before finally seeing the light of day, the Eiffel stool had already travelled the world: it was initially inspired by Paris, designed in Tokyo and since then has been manufactured in Barcelona by the company RS.
Designed by Shigeki Fujishiro, it’s inspired by the world-famous Eiffel Tower. It’s made of a particular type of cardboard only made in Europe out of pulp and recycled paper which is totally recyclable. Despite this material’s apparent fragility, the Eiffel stool is extremely robust and capable of supporting up to 140kg.
One of its distinctive features is that it has not four but three legs. In grey or brown, it comes flatpacked in a compact cardboard box and takes less than five minutes to assemble.
The Eiffel stool was one of the star pieces at the RS stand during the last ICFF fair held in New York last May.
