Beside, a piece by Estudio Enblanc for Systemtronic
Beside is a side table-cum-storage unit. It comprises a shelf and a tray on its top, both made of curving steel. It’s a design by Valencia-based Estudio Enblanc for the most cutting-edge division of Systemtronic, which is called Advanced.
Complementing the piece is its bigger sister Beside High, designed to store larger objects tidily. Both designs are brilliant examples of the Advanced collection as they’re sober, elegant and easy to incorporate into projects which require pieces which look neutral yet have character – the latter an increasingly hot trend in the world of contemporary furniture for the home and public spaces.
Tables aside, Barcelona-based Systemtronic also makes shelving, coatstands, umbrella stands, wastepaper bins and display cases, all of which aim to transcend being merely functional. Significantly, it has commissioned designers such as Estudio Enblanc – some of whose ideas, like its Lepark rugs for the company Gan, we’ve featured before – to create some of its pieces.
Systemtronic was founded in 1984 with the aim of designing and manufacturing tables, pedestals and accessories for computer systems. After 23 years developing the Classic collection of auxiliary furniture for offices, the company incorporated its new division, Advanced, which follows all the latest trends.
