Sellex wins Spain´s National Design Prize

Spain´s pretigious National Design Prize 2011 has been awarded to office and contract furniture company Sellex.

The Government Minister for Industry and Innovation says the company won ‘because of its more than 30 years of consistent quality and constant search for excellence’. Jury members felt Sellex has been able to combine timeless elegance with affordability and usability.

The National Design Prize is the most coveted design award in Spain. Organized by the Department for Industry and Innovation, it was set up in 1987.

Sellex is based in San Sebastian and was launched in 1977 to bring contemporary design to the contract market. It has created many pieces of furniture that are heading for modern classic status, such as the Aero bench, and the Hammok and Slam chairs.

Its products are sold in more than 40 countries, and can be seen at diverse venues such as London´s City Hall, Copenhagen Airport and the Scottish Parliament building.
