The Surprise! collection wows London

The Surprise! family of furniture created by Gaspar González for Barcelona-based company Concepta is growing fast. Now joining its chair, which has been produced since 2010, are an extremely comfortable armchair and a stool.

In this collection, which comes in simple shapes but has a markedly organic character and so looks pure and classic, the outstanding feature is its cushioned seat, which gives it an ultra-modern aesthetic – and makes it incredibly comfortable.

These new designs were on show in London last December at the exhibition, La Nueva Ola (meaning the new wave of Spanish design), mounted by Wallpaper* magazine at the William Road Gallery in the city centre, alongside other new pieces by young Spanish designers.

González has lived in Madrid, Valencia, London, Delft (in the Netherlands) and Barcelona, where he studied industrial design at the city’s EINA School of Art and Design. His most notable clients include Bisazza and Hansgrohe, as well as Concepta, for whom he created this brilliant collection.
