Gandía Blasco unveils Tropez and Big
Stefan Diez is one of Germany’s designers du jour. The fact that he scooped Red Dot prizes (an international product design award) for two of his pieces in 2011 amply proves this.
An admirer of the designer, Valencia-based company Gandía Blasco has created its latest collections in conjunction with him. We’d like to highlight one result of this fruitful collaboration: an informal-looking, versatile outdoor furniture collection called Tropez, a line inspired by fashionable 1920s and 30s sports. Its formal language nods to elegant sailing boats and tennis rackets , and endows outdoor furniture with all the comfort of indoor seating. This wide-ranging collection comprises a bed, chaise longue, armchair, sofa as well as modular sofas, pouffes, high and low-level tables, a stool and benches. The collection’s extruded aluminium structure has the advantage of giving it huge flexibility.
This collaboration has also spawned Big – an armchair that’s multifunctional and can be paired with all of Gandía Blasco’s other collections as it can be teamed with tables from different collections. Alternatively, it looks great on its own. It’s fabricated using rotatational moulding, and made of 100 per cent recyclable polyethylene.
