Spain triumphs with Red Dot 2012

The Red Dot product design prize of 2012 is surely one of the most prestigious acknowledgments of good product design in the design world. This year, four Spanish companies have succeeded in receiving it. Two chairs and two lamps scooped the awards.

The chairs are Sail, designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga for Andreu World, which stands out for looking as light as the sail on a boat (hence its name), and office chair TNK A500, dreamt up by Alegre Industrial for Actiu. Particularly noteworthy about the latter, said the jury, is its materials which offer added value, and are sustainable and environmentally friendly.

The lamps are the practical Pleg wall lamp designed by Yonoh for LZF Lamps and BlancoWhite table incorporating a light by Antoni Arola for Santa & Cole, a multifunctional product which can be used as bookshelves, as shelving that glows or as lighting.
