Drops 2012, cement tiles designed by Mut Design
An idyllic pond you can walk on!
Drops is the name of the first Collection of cement tiles designed by Mutdesign for Enticdesigns. A new concept of encaustic cement tile floors that reinvents the late nineteenth century flooring technique to suit currents trends.
Based on emotional design, Drops is a complete revision that reaks with the formal cement tile tradition to get away from rigid modular characteristic of these soils and their designs, featuring floral and geometrical motifs.
With this new collection Mut proposes a randomized, open-modular system tahta every person may freely combined. The drops collection consists of four different tiles to decorate each room according to personal tastes.
The animal world inspired this first collection of this project that draws on Japanese fish ponds used since antiquity to provide homes tranquillity and harmony.
Using basic geometry, these pieces draw and represent the drops of rain falling on the pond with carp, water, lilies and lotus flowers… a suggestive combination that transforms the most special rooms into an idyllic pond you can walk on.
