Lighting
Santa & Cole present in ING Group’s Chicago HQ
Its spectacular Estadio light illuminates the lobby.
Spanish lighting graces the headquarters of some of the world’s most prestigious financial institutions. A shining example of this is the lighting of Spanish firm Santa & Cole, which has supplied the lobby of ING Group’s HQ in Chicago with its now-iconic Estadio chandelier.
Estadio was originally conceived for Barcelona’s Olympic stadium for the 1992 Olympics, and its dazzling ring of light is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Its glittering, crown-shaped structure is made of glass blocks and an imposing metallic frame that recalls medieval, cast-iron lamps.
The lamp wasn’t put into production in the 90s but was redesigned in 2002 by Miguel Milá.
The installation of the lamp in Chicago was undertaken by US architecture studio Elkus Manfredi and Turner Construction.
