FABULOUS LIGHTING FOR THE SUMMER

Among the most notable of these are Javier Mariscal’s Mora light, designed for the company Vondom and inspired by traditional, die-cast metal lamps. Panamá, a design by Mario Ruiz for Metalarte, Lua by Arturo Álvarez, which is inspired by the moon, Vibia’s design Break, which resembles a sculpture and emits a subtle glow and, finally, Jean Nouvel’s spectacular light Riddle, created for Troll, a spherical lamp which simulates sunlight glimpsed through a tree’s leaves.

Mention should also be made of the company Almerich’s design Blow. Part of its brand new collection, it’s a portable outdoor light which can be placed anywhere on a terrace or garden. Meanwhile, B Lux’s Frame comprises a collection of beacons which casts an indirect light and which, aesthetically, is remarkably restrained and very elegant.

Other discernible new trends range from a taste for organic forms to ultra-practical dual-functionality. Lamps inspired by the former, like Marset’s creation Amanita, B Lux’s Boletus and Vondom’s Vases collection – which evokes cut diamonds – as well as B Lux’s Mojón, which demonstrates the company’s commitment to clever dual-functionality, bear witness to these firms’ unbridled creativity. Another example of the trend for all things dual-functional is Gandía Blasco’s new, generously sized planter, which lights up.

Floor lights also make a welcome foray outdoors, bringing a warmth to the garden. Examples include Metalarte’s Zola light, B Lux’s Kanpazar, Carpyen’s Velisima, Vibia’s Plis and Punt Mobles’ highly original PO Light – a sunshade incorporating a light

On the spotlight and wall lamp front, the designs which most caught our eye were Santa & Cole’s Amigo spotlight – the company’s latest offering in terms of outdoor lighting – Vibia’s Scotch, a spotlight suitable both as outdoor lighting and for bathrooms, and Carpyen’s design UFO.
