SPAIN SHOWS NEW TILE TRENDS

Spanish tile manufacturers present unique technical advancements and an impressive showcase of well-designed tiles, which explore all nuances of textural technology and tonal variety. We highlight the following key trends:

3D TEXTURES AND GEOMETRIC FORMATS
Spanish manufacturers have become increasingly inventive, developing 3D designs targeted at architects and interior designers. Take, for example, the designs of companies such as Apavisa, Natucer and Dune.

WOOD-EFFECT
Wood-effect, ceramic tiles uniquely combine the strength of ceramics with the appealingly organic aesthetic of wood. These stand out, thanks to their aged look and warmly tactile feel. Companies such as Colorker, Vives, Inalco and Porcelanosa showcased a broad spectrum of wood-effect tiles.

MARBLE, STONE, CEMENT AND CONCRETE STYLES
Thanks to advances in finishes and ink-jet printing, tiles can now exactly mimic marble, stone or cement – and be very durable. Good examples include the cement finish of the Basilea range and slate finish of Namibia – both products by Grespania – the marble style of Keraben’s Carrara range and metallic look of Porcelanosa’s Glasgow design.

VINTAGE COLLECTIONS
Ceramic collections are also harking back to the past with ceramics which perfectly simulate the antique finish of hydraulic paving stones pressed into cement although the new tiles are pressed on to an extruded porcelain.
