Actiu, the Spanish company which specialises in office equipment and which has experience in the completion of projects in over 60 countries, has recently kitted out the Mexico City offices of the company Tiba, a leading company in the transport sector.
Founded in 1975, Tiba has headquarters in four countries scattered across three continents. It has over 200 professional staff who are in charge of organising the transport of goods all over the world.
From the start, Actiu’s project catered to the needs of the client. Design, functionality and ergonomics were some of the fundamental requirements of each workstation. Moreover, it chose to take things a stage further and create a cutting-edge space by making interesting contrasts with the furniture: neutral colours have been juxtaposed with bright ones, and simplicity with the latest technology.
Vital desks with a white Melamine finish with low screen dividers in glass and aluminium running down the middle of them – to give employees a degree of privacy – were installed in the large open-plan offices.
Vital is a system with many uses which comes in a simple and elegant style and in wide variety of finishes. It also incorporates electrical fittings for both individual and double tables.
The element of warmth and splash of colour in the open-plan office was achieved thanks to the orange backs and seats of its TNK 40 chairs. The latter were designed by the design studio Alegreindustrial; by choosing these, Actiu has demonstrated its commitment to creating an audacious, cutting-edge space that is at once dynamic, open-plan and above all original.
TNK is a system of office chairs with its own distinctive character and cutting-edge technology: it can detect the user’s contact with the back of the chair, and so adjust and reduce the speed with which the chair’s backrest makes contact with the person’s moving back, thereby making the chair more comfortable.
The executive offices have been furnished in a different style: Vital tables have been combined with modular wenge cupboards. This elegant touch is complemented by the presence here of the TNK chair and confident UMA chair, designed by Lledó&Campos. The latter is a versatile, ergonomic chair with a natural look and black arms.
Finally, in the meeting rooms TNK chairs have been combined with small pedestal tables whose design is very individual yet tímeless. These tables go well in any space and with any other style of chair. Their aluminium frames also make them very stable.
The company Actiu, which has been in business for over 40 years, employs 200 people and indirectly provides work for another 500. Twenty-eight per cent of its current sales are made in foreign markets, principally in Europe and the Middle East. Actiu has almost managed to double its sales in the past six years and the main reason for this is its firm commitment to investment in research and development.
In November 2008, it opened its new Technology Plant which occupies almost 200,000 sq ft and which is based in Castilla, Alicante. It includes a three-storey building, three large production plants and a huge logistics complex. Thanks to this ambitious project, Actiu has been able to increase its productivity by 30 per cent and, according to management, become much more competitive.
