Inalco isn’t just another company specialising in ceramic paving and surfaces catering to the construction industry, architecture and interior design. It is, first and foremost, a great innovator.

It’s major commitment to differentiating itself from other companies has led to it being the first company to develop and introduce digital decoration with its ceramic product called lplus, in 2005. Later, in 2009, the firm unveiled its Slimmker range of mass-produced, large-format porcelain stoneware and white paste tiles that are revolutionary for being so slimline – they are only 4mm to 6mm thick. More recently, it launched its Slimmker-Floor range of ceramic paving which is much more hard-wearing than conventionally thicker paving.

Inalco has invested so heavily in Slimmker that the company has decided to specialise in this type of ultra-fine, large-format product. Slimmker aside, Inalco creates surfaces for any type of space, injecting individuality and character into all environments by incorporating ceramic features as an essential element of any decorative scheme.

Another distinguishing aspect of this company’s ceramic collection is its use of neutral colours which are nevertheless varied for coming in both light and dark tones. At the moment, as we could observe at this year’s Cevisama trade fair for ceramic surfaces and tiles, the trend is for noble materials, such as stone, wood and hand-crafted clay, as well as for new cement-based products. Notable among Inalco’s latest nature-inspired collections is Handcraft, co-created by Inalco and architecture studio Bunch SL, and its Prints Vestige line, available in four colours (white, nut brown, grey and black), which is based on aged wood. This year’s offerings also include the elegant, delicate Antal collection with a bush-hammered finish and Nacaré, which takes inspiration from Perlino marble and is decorated using the lplus techique. Finally, there are its granite-inspired Domo collection, its Prints Betton range inspired by imprints left on cast concrete, and Supra, a polished, spectacularly glossy porcelain stoneware line.

All this evidence of commitment to innovation demonstrates Inalco’s will to succeed, which is necessary for it to land major architecture projects.
