One of its most eye-catching new products this year is its Karbala, Intuición and Kazán collections, which boasts an abundance of embroidered linens in vibrant colours.
Three new collections caught our eye at this stand, namely Bassa, a mix of striped or floral linens and cottons in different colourways: mustard, white, purple, blue; Token, an eclectic design ideal for interiors with a more multicultural look as it’s made of an ‘ethnic’ silk and features oriental-looking embroidery, and Tribeca, a collection with a very urban, New York feel.
This company unveiled a collection of embroidered and tapestry fabrics made of silks woven on hand-operated looms, all in vibrantly colourful new prints, which are fast becoming a hallmark of the brand.
Its new collection Armonía, which stands out for its incorporation of lustrous gold and silver metallic elements, is typified by a rich palette and bold linear motifs. Another of its collections, Partículas, is a reinterpretation of geometric, 50s prints, all in juicily bright colours.
For the new season, Pepe Peñalver is offering the Out of Africa collection, with a colonial style in warm and fresh tones. The new collection is joined by Supernova, the most contemporary collection with geometric shapes and jacquard, Brittany – colonial nostalgia in turquoise, grey, toasted and golden tones, and lastly, Orient Express, with a luxury, classic and exotic style
Becara’s new collection for 2011 features oriental and ethnic inspired fabrics in coral tones, as well as others with red and blue floral prints on cream backgrounds.
Nature is the leitmotif of Gancedo’s 2011 collections – Versalles, Naturals and Batik. The latter, a colourful fabric which exudes vitality and a sense of fantasy, was created in collaboration with young designers from the Instituto Europeo de Diseño (IED) – a design school with schools in Spain, Italy and Brazil.
Four collections by this company stood out in particular: Bauhaus, Maharajá, Botánica and Forest. Bauhaus – in a modern, metropolitan, masculine, sober and cosmopolitan style – pays homage to the architectural style of this legendary design school. The distinctive feature of Maharajá, which is inspired by the opulent lifestyle of India’s ‘great kings’, is its rich mix of tones: old gold, pinks, strong blues and moody aubergine.
Botánica is a romantic, elegant, feminine collection with a vintage vibe. And Forest is a collection of lacy fabrics inspired by woodland.
Among this brand’s very varied collections, some stood out in particular: there’s Malizzia, whose rich-looking fabrics in attractive colourways – greys, greyish browns and rich dark reds – are sophisticated. Origins, which is highly romantic and nods to nature, is made of traditional fabrics (linen, cotton, velvet). Finally, another design, Forever is highly distinctive and diaphanous – made of lacey fabrics in natural tones and featuring embroidery
KA International presents its very contemporary collections. For example, Trä and Neutrals has a cosy feel with its neutral tones and accents of colour. Urban Chic would suit uncluttered, streamlined interiors, while Arquitectura is perfect for modern, masculine, elegant spaces. And finally, there’s the more directional Loft design, ideal for spacious, light-filled, industrial-chic spaces.
