Spain’s top designers of upholstery and interior-design textiles have just unveiled their first collections for the year.
Alhambra has four new collections. CAPRICE transports us back to the Renaissance with characterful fabrics featuring floral prints on velvets, embossed damask designs and light-infused brocades. DANDELION is a light-curtain collection inspired by natural elements. MAGARA comprises three-dimensional embroidery, natural velvet and feather prints of ethnic African inspiration. And finally, ATLANTIDA is a contemporary series of harmonious organic lines inspired by nature under the sea.
Gancedo has started the year with two new collections. ETHNIC features herringbone, geometric and striped designs, inspired by distant tribes and cultures, while ARTIC harks back to Utrecht’s velvet artisan traditions with deluxe embossed fabrics. Gancedo has also launched new brand HAPPYTEX, which marks its debut with COTTON DECO, urban geometry at its purest, and NATURE, defined by the textures of the earth.
Güell Lamadrid and Les Creations de la Maison (Grupo Lamadrid). Güell Lamadrid’s NANDI collection, created by designer-decorator Toni Espuch, revolves around linen patterned with a drawing of India’s sacred bull, and GLORIOUS features herons designed by renowned American interior designer and TV host, Genevieve Gorder. Of its vast choice of floral print collections, check out AKIM and, for extra upholstery glamour, SAONA and SAVOY. For its part, Les Creations de la Maison has launched several collections ranging from black and white mixed with natural shades, to greys and beiges with abstract geometric designs like FROM BLACK TO WHITE. It also has new textiles ideal for outdoors made with polypropylene, like the AVALOS series, and light linen curtain collections like TRENTO.
Gastón y Daniela wowed us with AFRICALIA, brightly-coloured textiles inspired by the African continent. They include designs typical of Mali, pure South African motifs like those behind Suajili, and Kuba textiles from Congo.
Equipo DRT has plumped for SARANBANDE, seven textiles that keep pace with the stately Baroque dance of the same name, created by graphic artist Pappenpop. They blend decorative motifs from traditional Dutch painting with the architecture of Valencia and state-of-the-art digital printing.
Coordonné has unwrapped prints with animal, plant and flower motifs in ADMIRAL and BIRDSONG, and has also launched jacquard series TIBET with exotic influences.
Finally, Ybarra Serret goes for organic shapes, geometry and stripes fabrics, while Texturas por Alexandra introduces PHOENIX, a textiles collection in contemporary style with geometric patterns. Decorative options from CR CLASS are also not to be missed.
