The lizard or “lagarto” is one of the most fascinating creatures you can find in the Spanish countryside. The shapes they make as they move stir the same kind of curiosity as the new Lagarto sofa, designed by Ilmiodesign studio for iSimar.
The modular Lagarto sofa has many things in common with the creature from which it gets its name. The materials it is made from have sun-proof properties so it can be used either inside or in the open air. Like the animal that inspired it, Lagarto likes to sun itself outdoors, and is equally at home in large, well-trodden spaces and quiet, cosy corners. Modular, versatile and visually light, you can set it up in a variety of geometric shapes to resemble the curving shapes of a lizard’s tail.
The Lagarto sofa won’t leave anybody unmoved and to prove the point it was a finalist in the “Outdoor Lounge” category at the NYCxDesign Awards 2017 given by Interior Design magazine for the three best designs at ICFF trade show.
Spanish company iSimar has specialised in manufacturing chairs, stools and tables from metal structures using easily-recyclable rods and pipes made from top-quality materials like steel and aluminium. In recent years, it has undergone a complete strategic overhaul, launching a new range of outdoor furniture of Mediterranean inspiration, 100% made in its own factory in Noain, Navarra. The versatility, quality, design and comfort of its designs have taken export figures to 55% of turnover.
