Next year, Actiu, the furniture company for workspaces and contract, celebrates its 50th anniversary and first early gift that has come from the country where it was created. All of us who have followed this brand’s exemplary track record are proud to celebrate Spain's 2017 National Design Award with the company. Congratulations!
The 2017 National Design Award is given by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, through the Secretary of State for R&D&I, and is the main recognition in Spain for companies and professionals that have stood out for their exemplary track record in the field of design. Actiu has been an award winner in the ‘Companies’ category.
As the Director of Brand Strategy Soledad Berbegal explains, ‘This award recognises a way of understanding design as a strategic business weapon that applies to all phases of the company, from the design of the product, project, graphic identity, workspaces and even to the design of our internationalisation plan’. And she adds: ‘Our goal, throughout our half-century of history, has been to apply design as the key so that innovation, space and furniture combine to create more comfortable and efficient work environments’.
The award panel has recognised ‘the strong commitment to design and R&D&I’, of the company, which has its own design department and works with designers and architects like Alegre Design, ITEMdesignworks, Ramos & Bassols and Stone Design, among others. ‘These professionals have allowed Actiu to add the most cutting-edge design to its essence and grow from a small workshop of handcrafted, custom-made furniture to a big company that exports more than half of its production to about ninety countries around the world’, Berbegal emphasises.
Actiu’s commitment to innovation and design can be seen in all of its collections, which we can view in many facilities around the world and in its six showrooms, the latest of which recently opened in Miami. From its Technology Park, located in the town of Castalla in Alicante, the company exports products to 90 countries across the world.
