Leading US magazine Interior Design has just celebrated the 12th edition of its Best of Year Awards. Winners were announced and awards presented on 1 December in New York, in the IAC building designed by the prestigious Canadian architect Frank Gehry.


A total of 2,300 products and projects in 113 different categories were presented this year. In the Product Section, 17 products by 13 Spanish companies were selected as finalists, and four walked off with awards. Another Spanish company which co-produced one of the award-winning products and an architects’ studio were winners in the Projects Section.


In the “Contract/Conference” seating category the Flex Cantilever series designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga for Andreu World also won an award. The “Garden Layers” collection of rugs, mats, bolsters and cushions designed by Patricia Urquiola for Gan-Rugs was successful in furniture in the “Outdoor Lounge” section. Cosentino was awarded a prize as co-producer and materials supplier to the winner of the “Outdoor” furniture category.

In lighting, award-winners in the “Architectural” category was the pendant lamp system Algorithm, designed by Toan Nguyen for Vibia and in the “Floor” section, standard lamp Jaima, designed by Joan Gaspar for Marset.


Winning projects included architecture studio RCR Arquitectes in the “Fine Dining” category by innovative one-star Barcelona restaurant “Enigma”, the ambitious challenge taken up by Chef Albert Adrià, brother of famous Spanish chef Ferrán Adrià.


Interiors from Spain would like to congratulate all the Spanish design and architecture studios which received awards and nominations.
