Exhibition of the new LaGranja collections in Madrid

Exhibition of the new LaGranja collections in Madrid

Lagranja Design studio recently unveiled new designs for its own Lagranja Collection of furniture, which brings together different collections of chairs, tables, sofas and poufs designed, produced and sold by the studio for its interior design projects around the world.

As the studio puts it, “All the pieces in this catalogue cater for the needs of our interior design projects. So a pretty seat, a fun pouf or cosy armchair designed in Barcelona could quite easily have come to life in Istanbul, Hong Kong or Singapore”.

This new collection is an extension of the Basic collection, created in 2012 as part of an interior design project for Barcelona’s Chic & Basic hotel. The studio has also unveiled a new outdoor furniture family called Bold.

The Basic collection, made only from fine, natural wood, is defined by its Nordic aesthetics and Mediterranean warmth, transmitting the studio's values of simple, honest design, meticulous manufacture and the eye for detail of a traditional crafter. The family now has new members: XL Basic Armchair and XL divan, which a larger, eared versions of the originals. They have also launched an elegant small seat in the shape of Room & Small Room Pouf. The pouf, with its retro upholstery, was created for a glamorous cocktail bar and comes with a back for extra comfort. To complete the series, Seta is a fun ‘mushroom’ pouf that comes in various types of fabrics and colours, while the Berry auxiliary tables are inspired by the studio’s Cone table.

The Bold collection is Lagranja’s first line of outdoor furniture line and is an addition to Basic. The family arose to cater for the studio’s outdoor interior design projects. Their Bold chair was specifically designed for The Populist, a beer bar in Istanbul which wanted outdoor chairs that wouldn’t look out of place if brought inside. The Bold armchair and sofa were developed for restaurant and beach club FOC Sentosa, on Singapore’s tourist resort Sentosa Island. A stool and table complete the collection. All the pieces are extremely lightweight and easy to move, a must for outdoor furniture used in contract projects.

Lagranja Design was founded in Barcelona 15 years ago by Gabriele Schiavon and Gerard Sanmartí and was named after the street which was the studio’s first address. It has completed interior design projects in a number of countries, and as a result opened offices in Hong Kong in 2010 and Istanbul in 2013. Lagranja Design has designed products for furniture and lighting brands like Foscarini, Santa&Cole, Metalarte, Marset and Poltrona Frau. Its own furniture collections Basic and Bold are manufactured by Spanish firm Sillería Vergés.
