Interface and electrical materials manufacturer Simon came away from Germany with two iF Design Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious design prizes. The awards, in the product category, were for their collections Simon 400 in the desk and Simon 400 over the desk. Meanwhile, the Simon Group’s lighting brand Fluvia obtained the iF Gold Award for their Loop luminaire, created by Antoni Arola.
Connectivity systems Simon 400 are designed to resolve electrical connection, voice, data and multimedia needs in working environments, and have a design that is up to 23% more compact, eliminating less aesthetic details and optimising useful working space to the maximum. The company has already won two previous iF awards: in 2015 for the Sense interface collection and in 2016 for the Simon 24 mechanism.
Fluvia also received the special iF Gold recognition for its Loop luminaire designed by Antoni Arola, which was judged “an example of the optimum use of new OLED technology using a minimum number of elements. No need to add or take anything away: it’s simply perfect. Highly flexible and with a defined personality, the Loop wall lamp fits seamlessly into the building.” It is the latest in the wake of a series of accolades the brand had already achieved at earlier editions in the iF product category, including for luminaires Arch, designed by Josep Lluscà, and Point in 2017, Cool in 2015, and Slim and Slim System created by Josep Lluscà in 2014.
The iF Design Awards have been organised every year since 1953 by the iF International Forum Design GmbH. Based in Hannover, it is Germany’s oldest independent design institution and its awards are recognised as an exceptional quality hallmark.
