As we learn more about the different companies and designers that received a 2020  German Design Award, we find that several of them are Spanish companies and brands.

In the "Office Furniture" section of the "Excellent Product Design" category, the awards went to the TRIM ergonomic chair, designed by Alegre Design for Actiu, and the HULA stool, created by Benjamin Hubert for Andreu World. In the "Lighting" section, the award was presented to the AVATAR lighting concept free of ceiling suspension designed by Fernando Martínez for the brand Ole!, and the HOOK lamp designed by OiKo Design for Faro Barcelona.

In addition to Alegre Design and OiKo Design, other Spanish designers who received awards included the studio Muka Design Lab that designed the PALA chair for Fameg and the design consulting firm Mormedi, which won in the "Aviation, Maritime and Railway" section for its design on the futuristic SUPER ECO seat for low-cost Asian airlines (FUCAM Consortium). Moreover, the designer Susanna Cots from the studio Susanna Cots Interior Design won another award in the "Best Interior Architecture" category for the design of the Sant Josep de Barcelona Clinic.

The German Design Awards are some of the most important design awards in Germany, providing their recipients with outstanding prestige worldwide. The awards are granted by the German Design Council with the aim to discover, present, and celebrate the best trends in the world of design. Each year, projects and products from around the world receive awards, representing pioneering contributions to the international design scene. The official award ceremony will be held on February 7 at a gala as part of the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt.
