The Spanish furniture firm Mobilfresno was commissioned in 2019 to create an exclusive collection to furnish the rooms and part of the bar of the Dixon Marriot Hotel in the English capital. This establishment is located near the city’s famous Tower Bridge.
The Dixon Hotel is housed in a historic London building, designed by architect John Dixon Butler in 1905. This building served as the Tower Bridge Magistrate's Court for decades. It housed courtrooms, judges and lawyers, as well as cells and a police office, all of which have been maintained in some form in its latest iteration. The hotel reception and bar, for example, retain much of the courthouse’s original wood paneling.
To give the rooms a distinct character, Mobilfresno has designed seats in striking mustard tones, elegant easy chairs and sofas (which double as pull-out beds), side tables and benches that sit at the foot of the bed. In the hotel bar, which once housed the court room, we find a collection of purple upholstered seats, which are perfect for enjoying a meal and bring a touch of modernity to this space full of history.
Since it was founded 1976, Mobilfresno has grown from a small family business to a successful international company, specializing in high quality, designer furniture for homes, hotels and contract projects around the world, and driven by a passion for furnishings. It currently exports between 80-85% of its orders, and in 2019 its most active markets in terms of hotel and apartment projects included India and the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan). The firm also has exclusive brand boutiques showcasing Mobilfresno products in Russia and China, and in the US retail market its products are displayed in showrooms throughout the country.
