The textile firm Gancedo, founded in 1945, has just opened its new flagship store in Madrid, at calle Velázquez 38: a 1200 m2 space, distributed through four floors, where the Italian architect Teresa Sapey has located the store, offices, meeting rooms and a wonderful showroom. There, interior designers and decorating professionals can discover and appreciate the great variety of Gancedo's references, both from prestigious international firms and its own design and manufacture.
With nearly 75 years working textile production and customer service, this family business has decided to commit to this innovative space designed to respond to all the needs that have arisen throughout this time. "The change, the revolution, is not the brand new and spectacular space, but the project that moves it, the dream of which it is a part," said Manuel Gancedo, third-generation head of the textile company.
As soon as you enter, you encounter a large, open space with high ceilings and mirrors in which, carefully and elegantly, the decorative accessories are presented: cushions, plaids, lampshades, bags, bean bags, and more, all made with the exclusive fabrics by Gancedo and its second brand, HappyTex by Gancedo.
In the first part of the store, the idea was to create a space that would look like a continuation of the street: a large area surrounded by a wooden grandstand that will also function as a space for talks and conferences. On the second floor there is also a furnished terrace, a small oasis where you can enjoy the arrival of good weather and a unique shopping experience.
Next, stairs lead to the area where fabrics, wallpapers, carpets, rugs and trimmings are presented in an orderly display. These are Gancedo's own collections, as well as international firms that they represent exclusively. Wood, the protagonist of the interior design, was the material chosen by architect Teresa Sapey, not only to cover floors and walls, but also to make the furniture.
A corner of the store will be decorated every three months by different designers, creators. At Gancedo we are interested in co-creating, collaborating with different branches of culture and art.
The challenge of this masterful interior design project is for both decoration professionals and private customers who come to Gancedo see at a glance, and in a comfortable way, the wide variety of references that can be found in the store. The objective is to show a space where people feel at ease and enjoy the experience of selecting products for their home, restaurant, hotel, and other settings.
