On 1st November 2002, the Spanish firm Lladró opened its first exclusive store in Tokyo, on Ginza Street, one of the most commercial and prestigious streets in the Japanese capital, where a large number of the most luxury international brands are present, such as Chanel, Prada, Loewe…
Lladró was founded in 1953 and has its headquarters in Almàssera (Valencia). This manufacturer of exclusive decorative porcelain pieces is one of Spain’s most internationally prestigious brands. Through its particular manufacturing process Lladró obtains outstanding pieces characterised by their crystalline finish and pastel tones.
Lladró Boutique Ginza store occupies 380m2, distributed on five floors. Each floor is devoted to different collections, from the most traditional to the most innovative. The third floor of Lladró’s Tokyo showroom is reserved for Lladró Privilege members. This is an innovative customer loyalty scheme created by the company in 2001. It incorporates a new service concept providing Lladró porcelain enthusiasts with even more attentive and special customer service.
Lladró has recently collaborated with internationally renowned young artists such as Jaime Hayón or Bodo Sperlein, launching completely new collections that have managed to woo a younger Japanese clientele.
Highlights amongst these new proposals include the Re-Cyclos collection, made up of new and evocative works based on Lladró’s classic figures. Important designers have worked on this collection, such as the CuldeSac team, with original crowns and geodes based on Christmas decorations. Bodo Sperlein has also designed jewellery and decorative accessories, which he has christened Lladró Re-Cyclos Magical, along with the Ascot series, a collection of fun table objects based on the legs and heads of Lladró’s traditional horses.
Jaime Hayón, the brand’s current creative director, he launched the Redeco collection, through which Lladró’s pieces acquire a new dimension, full of sophistication and exuding new sensations.
The Lladró brand has been present in the Japanese market since the 1970s. In the 1980s it set up a joint venture with the Japanese company Mitsui & Co. Ltd., forming Bussan Lladró Co., Ltd., while the 1990s saw the creation of Lladró Japan Co., Ltd.
Lladró Boutique Ginza store was renovated in April 2007 and continues to transmit Lladró’s concept and philosophy as its flagship in Japan. Thanks to the brand's success in the Japanese market, figures are now designed fully in keeping with the traditional Japanese style.
Lladró is also present in the world’s most important cities. There are now Lladró boutiques in more than 17 countries, always located in the most exclusive commercial zones. Lladró’s approach to boutiques is to create modern spaces within which the decoration and lighting seduce the visitor, displaying a carefully chosen selection of pieces that gain visibility and prominence.
