Kettal, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, opened its first showroom in Dubai in January. This is a significant milestone for the company, marking its long-term commitment to the Middle East and reinforcing its global expansion.
This space, designed specifically for this region of the Arabian Peninsula, explores light, nature, materials, and craftsmanship from a Gulf perspective, creating an immersive spatial experience rooted in its native setting.
A striking porcelain veil facade filters natural light and creates a subtle dialogue with the outdoors, while a longitudinal skylight introduces shifting rhythms of light throughout the day. At the heart of the showroom, a sculptural staircase clad in Mutina’s Chamotte ceramics, designed by Patricia Urquiola, anchors the space with texture, tactility, and expressive form.
Custom enameled screens, also developed in collaboration with Urquiola, define the interior without fully enclosing it, allowing light to choreograph the space and create a flowing sequence of settings. A landscaped entrance and a rooftop terrace extend the narrative outdoors, underscoring Kettal’s belief that outdoor living is not an addition to architecture, but an essential part of it.
This showroom features a carefully curated selection of Kettal’s iconic collections and new designs, expressing the brand’s design philosophy through form, material, and use. These include the Tilos lounge system by Antonio Citterio, the sculptural Kari side tables by Konstantin Grcic, and the reissue of Loden, originally designed by Vico Magistretti in 1961, which connects the brand’s legacy with its contemporary vision. Indoor-outdoor versatility is reflected in the Passage aluminum seating by Ronan Bouroullec and the Insula modular sofa and tables by Patricia Urquiola. And lighting and textiles, such as the Anda lamps by Gonzalo & Miguel Milá and the Soga rugs by Vincent Van Duysen, further enrich the space. All of this is complemented by the Pi modular system for adaptable office environments, which illustrates the brand’s vision of hybrid living and working spaces.
The Spanish brand’s new space in Dubai is conceived as a platform for dialogue between architecture, design, and landscape. It offers local architects, designers, and clients a place to explore integrated solutions that combine furniture, lighting, and architectural systems, reinforcing Kettal’s role as a trusted partner in their contemporary architectural projects.
With this opening, Kettal strengthens its presence in the Middle East, positioning Dubai as a key hub in the brand’s international network and its collaborations across the region.
