This year, 16 Spanish companies and eight design studios were recognized with a Red Dot Design Award in the “Product Design” category.
In the “Home and Seating Furniture” category, Actiu received an award for the DORIK coffee table, a piece inspired by ancient Greece and designed by Odosdesign. In the “Office Furniture and Office Chairs” category, Grupo Alvic-Ofitres was recognized for the BIMU divider, designed by Fat Iron Studio, while Steelcase Spain received an award for the Y office desk collection, created by Mormedi. And in the “Garden Furniture” category, Gaviota Simbac was honored for its LUSOL awning.
In the “Bathroom and Sanitary Equipment” category, Roca earned two accolades: one for the OHTAKE collection of washbasins and bathtubs, designed by Brazilian designer Rodrigo Ohtake, and another for the MERIDIAN bathroom line by Altherr Désile Park Studio.
Other award-winning companies in the habitat sectors were: Casa Vigar, recognized in the “Cookware and Cooking Utensils” category for its HOMEY cutting board, and again in “Household Appliances and Kitchen Accessories” for a cleaning set; Mychef in the “Kitchen Appliances and Accessories” category for its QUICK WAVE microwave; and Sauleda in “Materials and Surfaces” for its innovative GREEN fabric, a textile that purifies the air through photocatalysis.
The Red Dot Awards are given annually by the prestigious German design organization "Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen". For more than 65 years, these awards have recognized good design and creativity found in firms across the five continents, whose products it values for their innovation, formal quality, functionality, and timelessness.
