Figueras Seating was born in Barcelona in 1929 as a small carpentry workshop. Over time, its activity became tied to the world of cinema and, later, to collective and cultural spaces. Across nearly a century of history, the company has evolved steadily, from manufacturing seats for the first theaters, cinemas, and auditoriums of the 20th century to seating systems for major stadiums and transformable venues in the 21st century, with a clear industrial vocation and a strong project-driven focus. Key milestones include its gradual industrialization, the international expansion launched in the 1990s, and its ongoing collaboration with leading architects and designers.
In 2020, Figueras joined the Brand Corner group, which has strengthened its industrial and financial foundations, while also enabling it to accelerate innovation, efficiency, and international growth processes. This group is made up of 17 companies, allowing them to share a long-term industrial vision and synergies in areas such as procurement, industrial management, strategy, and business development, both in Spain and in international markets.
Its successful track record is reflected in landmark projects around the world, such as the Philharmonie de Paris (France), designed by Jean Nouvel; the White House Press Briefing Room in Washington, D.C. (United States); the Bharat Mandapam convention center in New Delhi (India), which hosted the G20 in 2023; and the headquarters of Lombard Odier in Geneva (Switzerland), one of Europe’s most sustainable buildings. Added to these references are recent projects such as the refurbishment of the VIP seating at Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona and the new Roig Arena in Valencia, along with major sports complexes, cultural centers, and top-tier institutional and educational facilities, which underscore the company’s global positioning.
Values: Expertise and Comprehensive Support Throughout the Entire Project
The company’s core value proposition lies in the knowledge it has amassed over more than 95 years of experience, something that gives its solutions an exceptional capacity for adaptation and customization. Every project calls for a specific technical study, a product adaptation, or even full development, as well as a carefully planned implementation. “No two spaces are the same, and no two uses are identical. That’s why we always start with the architectural, functional, and regulatory context of each project. In many cases, the studio adapts dimensions, materials, fixings, systems, or finishes; in others, they work directly with architects and design teams to jointly conceive a specific seat, designed for a one-of-a-kind space.” The company explains.
Added to this is comprehensive support throughout the entire project: from the earliest, most conceptual phases through to manufacturing, installation, and the space’s final, proper operation. This way of working, deeply project-driven, is what makes it possible to deliver real value in complex projects and to turn Figueras into a technical partner, not merely a seating supplier.
For the company, design and innovation serve a clear purpose: to create solutions that work, that stand the test of time, and that adapt to the real needs of each space and of those who use it. “We develop our designs with the end user always in mind, applying technology to comfort and usability to meet the real demands of each environment,” the company maintains. All of this is grounded in a conscious commitment to the environment, society, and the natural world, driving sustainable, long-lasting, and innovative solutions, developed responsibly and with a forward-looking vision.
Best Sellers
The success of the company’s collections has always been closely tied to its ability to deliver for real-world, demanding and incredibly diverse projects. Among its Best Sellers are models widely used around the globe for their reliability, versatility, and durability, such as Minispace or Flex, especially prevalent in theaters, auditoriums, and cultural venues, as well as the Mega collection, strongly established in both cinemas and sports facilities. Alongside these designs, some seats created in collaboration with leading architects have become true icons within Figueras’ catalog, such as the Flame model, designed by Filipe Oliveira; the Sensó seat by Marta Vilallonga; or the Lyon seat, conceived by Jean Nouvel, reflecting the company’s commitment to bringing together design, architecture, and experience.
Among the solutions developed in recent years, Chronos has established itself as one of its most reliable options for stadiums and large-scale venues. Its rollout in large-scale projects in Morocco, such as the stadiums in Rabat, has demonstrated outstanding performance in terms of durability, comfort, and ease of installation. Meanwhile, the Onik and Onik+ models represent an evolution in how today’s major stadiums are conceived: as transformable, multifunctional spaces capable of adapting to different formats and levels of use.
Commercialization
The company works closely with architects, consultants, and project teams, but complements this model with a network of distributors, agents, and importers across different markets, enabling it to adapt to local specificities and provide close, hands-on support on every project.
Speaking of visibility and specification, Figueras tells us that it has a presence on professional platforms and digital libraries such as Architonic or ArchDaily, which it uses as tools for positioning and outreach among architects and specifiers internationally. “We work actively with BIMobject, a key platform for project teams, where we make our BIM models available to architects and specifiers.” This makes it easier for the company to integrate its solutions during the design phases, improves technical coordination, and enables faster, more accurate decision-making within the BIM environment.
Global Leader in Projects Worldwide
Figueras Seating has taken part in tens of thousands of projects around the world. According to the company’s historical records, it has completed more than 40,000 projects in over 130 countries, reflecting a track record defined by specialization and the trust of clients and specifiers internationally. This volume and diversity of projects has enabled the company to build deep expertise across different cultural, regulatory, and operational contexts, and to adapt to the particularities of each country without losing technical consistency or its identity as a brand.
Among its most recent projects in Europe, Figueras has taken part in the new AIL Arena stadium for FC Lugano in Switzerland, outfitting every area of the stadium. In Belgrade, they designed a seat for the Sava Centar, Serbia’s largest congress center following its extensive renovation.
In the United States, they have worked with top-tier academic institutions such as Princeton University, as well as Stanford and Georgetown Law Schools. They have also taken part, for a second time, in the renovation of the White House Press Briefing Room, a project especially demanding due to its visibility and institutional symbolism. In the area of American sports, their work at the Home Plate Club at Comerica Park - the Detroit Tigers’ stadium - stands out, where the first seats integrating heating and cooling via the Thermavance system were installed.
On the Asian continent, they are currently working on the VIP seating project for Aramco Stadium in Dammam (Saudi Arabia), and in Singapore, they are part of the development of NS Square, one of the most ambitious and technologically advanced arenas in the world. In India, the Bharat Mandapam project in Delhi stands out, one of the largest convention centers in the world, inaugurated in 2023.
On the African continent, their recent involvement stands out in key sports projects within Morocco’s plan to modernize its sporting facilities, such as the Prince Moulay Abdellah and Moulay Hassan stadiums, both in Rabat, which have hosted the Africa Cup of Nations and are slated to serve as venues for the 2030 World Cup. They have also taken part in the Rabat Olympic Stadium project, further strengthening their expertise in developing large-scale infrastructure with a high level of technical complexity. In Nigeria, they have contributed to institutional and cultural buildings, such as the National Assembly in Abuja or the National Theatre in Lagos, as well as other singular high-capacity projects, including the installation of more than one hundred thousand seats in the largest church in the world.
International Presence
Figueras exports more than 80% of its revenue, mainly to Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Asia, where it has worked in major theaters, auditoriums, stadiums, and highly complex arenas.
The company’s factory is located in Lliçà d’Amunt (Barcelona), where design, engineering, and main production are centralized. It has sales offices in France, the United States, Morocco, and Singapore, and it also has a showroom in New York, and will soon open a new space in Los Angeles.
