Design fans can take in the best of Spanish design at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts, which is part of Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Bordeaux, France, until September 16. The show opened on June 14 and will be open to the public throughout the summer.
This exhibition aims to give the French public and all international visitors to Bordeaux the opportunity to find out about Spanish design – both in terms of the country’s most high-profile designers and its manufacturers specialising in contemporary design. The exhibition also celebrates Spanish creativity from the entire 20th century, and showcases all areas of Spanish inventiveness – furniture, graphic design and industrial design.
The exhibition occupies two floors measuring 700 sq m. Pieces by internationally known Spanish designers such as Patricia Urquiola and Jaime Hayón, among others, are displayed on the lower floor. Meanwhile, more iconic, historical examples of Spanish culture, which laid the foundations for and inspired contemporary Spanish and graphic and industrial design, are showcased on the upper floor.
