Designer luminaire firm Santa & Cole has opened its first gallery in the United States, in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District. This space, designed as an art gallery hosting rotating exhibitions, marks the brand’s debut in the Big Apple.
The gallery is housed on the fourth floor of the Warren Building, an architectural gem attributed to Stanford White, located at the corner of Broadway and 20th Street since the late 19th century. Its iconic facade is a prominent feature in Manhattan’s vibrant design scene.
The exhibition space features high ceilings, parquet wood floors, large sash windows, and a noteworthy central kitchen. It showcases the wide array of the company's products: design editions, artworks, and books. Santa & Cole lamps play a central role, while the furniture enhances spatial flow and functionality in each room. Art editions adorn the walls, lending cohesion and significance to every corner. On the shelves, the books tell the stories behind the objects on display.
This opening underscore the importance of the U.S. market for the Spanish firm, which also seeks to actively engage in the dynamic design ethos and energy that characterizes New York City. “For forty years, we’ve built a strong, reputable brand on the European market. While we’ve been in the United States since 1991, today Santa & Cole has the infrastructure and expertise to extend its catalog much further afield,” says Javier Nieto Santa, co-founder and president of Santa & Cole.
Since 1985, Santa & Cole has been producing contemporary designer luminaires in Belloch, Barcelona, exporting them to over 80 countries. The opening of the Santa & Cole Gallery in New York City follows those in Barcelona (2021) and Mexico City (2023), and precedes upcoming openings in Belloch (2024), Shanghai, and Mumbai.
