Its objective is to consolidate its presence in Latin America.
This year, Actiu, the Spanish company which specialises in the design and manufacture of office furniture, has opened two new showrooms in Mexico City and Lima, Peru.
The Mexico City shop was created in collaboration with Actiu’s distributor in Mexico — Organitec. With a 200m sq display area, the showroom is located in the well-known area of Polanco, very near the hotels Hyatt, Intercontinental and JW Marriott. The one in Lima, situated in the district of Miraflores, has been opened in collaboration with Decorlux, Actiu’s distributor in Peru. The latter is a well-designed, cutting-edge space boasting three spacious floors devoted to showcasing Actiu’s products, an office area, a conference hall and various rooms for the directors.
The new showrooms are another key factor in the company’s plan for international expansion. ‘They are our bases in these countries,’ says Joaquín Berbegal, the company’s director of expansion and business development. ‘There are certain countries where it’s vital for us to have a physical presence as is the case with the UK and France, among other territories, so long as we can collaborate there with distributors. In the case of Latin American countries, we’ve realised that it’s very important for us to create these showrooms in conjunction with our collaborators and to offer our clients an environment where they can touch and feel the qualities of Actiu’s designs for themselves.’
These new showrooms mark Actiu’s progress in expanding in Latin America where, in the past three years, it has also opened showrooms in Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Uruguay, countries which it’s firmly committed to staying in. ‘Although we’ve done business there for 25 years, we want to continue doing so, while forming stronger links with our trading partners,’ says Berbegal. ‘These countries already have a good business track record and, since their political situations have stabilised, they will have a lot to offer in the coming years. And we’ll be there to witness that. In future, there are two countries we want to expand into, too: Venezuela, where we already have some major projects under way, and Brazil, which we know will be an important country in the coming years.’
