It’s its first collaboration with the studio Díez+díez Diseño.
Spanish company Alfombras Veo Veo has just launched its rug collection called 3.0, designed by the Madrid-based studio, Diez+díez Diseño.
The 3.0 collection has taken that ancient, archetypal household item – the rug – and transfomed into a graphic piece featuring various signs and codes, connections and information flows, in order to create a metaphor for all the screens that surround us in our daily lives. The rugs establish a conceptual and formal relationship between the knots that collectively create a rug with the pixels that make up an electronic screen.
The 3.0 rugs encompass the following, black and white designs: Wifi, Binaria, Feedback, Nexus and Transit. All are hand-woven using pure wool from New Zealand.
Díez+díez Diseño, which was co-founded by industrial designer Javier Díez and his brother José Luis, an interior designer, specialises in product design. Aside from Alfombras Veo Veo, the studio has developed pieces in collaboration with such companies as BD Barcelona Design, Tecnología y Diseño Cabanes, Ona, Miscel.lània, Escofet, Alpujarreña, Sargadelos and Mago:urban, among others.
Alfombras Veo Veo was founded in the 80s in Crevillent, Alicante, southeast Spain, and manufactures its products in Spain and Portugal. In the past it has co-created some of its collections with designers – for example, its Nurbs collection, designed by Edeestudio. The rug company’s strengths include its quick delivery times – around 30 days – the high quality of its raw materials (these include pure wool, soft silk and natural linen), the hand-weaving of its rugs and the choice it gives customers to create their own personalised rug by choosing its size, colour and shape.
