The new Low Lounger armchair, designed by Jaime Hayón, has been created for the contract market.
At the Paris trade fair Maison & Objet this January, BD Barcelona Design unveiled Low Lounger, a new, low-backed version of the Lounger armchair, originally designed in 2009 by Jaime Hayón.
Also designed by Hayón, the Low Lounger has been created specifically for the contract market. The piece stands out for its elegance and comfort and comes in two finishes — wood and a single colour. BD Barcelona Design also presented new finishes for its Multileg Cabinet, now available in wood or a matt colour, at Maison & Objet this year. Like Low Lounger, Multileg is part of Hayón’s collection Showtime, which was developed and launched in 2006.
Hayón has become one of the most internationally renowned figures on Spain’s contemporary design scene. Having enjoyed a meteoric rise to international fame, he has worked for such high-profile, world-renowned companies as Baccarat, Swarovski and Lladró, Denmark’s cutting-edge firms, Fritz Hansen and andTradition, Italian companies Bosa, Magis and Ceccotti and for Spanish brands Metalarte and BD Barcelona Design — for whom he created the elegant, Gaudí-inspired garden furniture collection Gardenias in 2013.
BD Barcelona Design is one of Spain’s most prestigious design companies on an international scale. Its extensive portfolio includes pieces by such high-profile, contemporary creatives as – Hayón aside – Ross Lovegrove, Alfredo Häberli and Konstantin Grcic as well as Art Nouveau furniture by Antoni Gaudí and Surrealist designs by Salvador Dalí, for which the company holds exclusive, global distribution rights.
