Cármenes launches at Hábitat Valencia this year

It’s a new designer, upholstered furniture company.

Spanish firm Cármenes has just launched itself as a brand new manufacturer of upholstered furniture; it unveiled its new collections at this year’s Hábitat Valencia design fair. Its aim is to establish itself as a high-profile designer upholstered furniture brand.

Its first collections, called Monroe, Afrika, Bambú and Diam, stand out for being comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The highly attractive Afrika model, designed by Jorge Pensi, comprises a sofa and matching armchairs. The distinguishing feature of the Monroe sofa, created by Lievore Altherr Molina, is its versatility and cohesive design. The modular Bambú sofa, designed by Ferran Estela, is capacious and has an eye-catching, modern look. The Diam armchairs, designed by Samuel Accoceberry, are comfortable and generously proportioned.

Under the slogan, ‘A new life for a great design’, the new Spanish, upholstered furniture company has been firmly committed from the start to producing designer furniture. As well as collaborating with prestigious, well-known designers, the firm provides a launchpad for young designers, and gives them total freedom of expression and maximum flexibility when it comes to planning their ideas for seating.

Good design with warm qualities are the hallmarks of Cármenes whose key philosophy is to create furniture that’s funky, comfortable, versatile and hardwearing. To this end, it deploys the highest quality raw materials and manufacturing methods at the cutting-edge of technology without sacrificing the hand-crafted element that sets its products apart and makes them unique. Cármenes’s HQ occupies an old, 19th-century spinning mill in the city of Sabadell, near Barcelona. This has been sympathetically renovated so that its essential features have been preserved. At the end of this year, it will house the company’s showroom, too.
