An extendable table that marries aesthetics with functionality.
The Valencia-based studio CuldeSac has designed the Transalpina table for Spanish contemporary furniture company Punt Mobles.
Transalpina is a lightweight, dynamic, extendable table that’s highly functional. The table takes up the challenge of augmenting its size in a straightforward fashion since its technical aspects do not define its shape. Instead the table’s shape determines the design of its ultra-simple extension mechanism. Transalpina’s frame is made of solid oak or ash, while its top is made of veneered, fibreboard MDF. Its subtly round-edged contours are designed to make it suit any type of space, from living rooms to kitchens.
CuldeSac is a creative and strategic consultancy that develops ideas with the sole objective of bringing value and business to brands. Founded in 2002 in Valencia, it undertakes multidisciplinary projects for interiors, product design, branding, events and graphics. It works for high-profile Spanish brands such as Roca, Lladró, Porcelanosa, Vibia, La Mediterránea and LZF. Last year, it designed the Mist mini-bar for Punt.
Punt Mobles was founded in Valencia in 1980. Since then, it’s become known for its functional and stylishly contemporary furniture. Part of its success lies in its collaborations with Spanish and international designes, such as Borja García, Mario Ruiz, Terence Woodgate, Nathan Yong and the studio Odosdesign, which recently created the simple and gorgeous trolley Mai Tai for Punt.
