A collection of pouffes and stools inspired by the footprint of this big pachyderm.
Sancal, the Spanish firm that specialises in upholstered, contemporary furniture, has just launched its Tierra collection which comprises a family of seven pieces, and includes an accessories line called Elephant. The latter, created by multidisciplinary design studio Nadadora, is Tierra’s stand-out piece, thanks to its originality and versatility.
Nadadora is once again proud of its spot-on take on these small pieces – a collection of pouffes and stools reminiscent of an elephant’s footprint. This time, it plumped for noble materials and finishes in sober colours – oak, copper, graphite, wool, linen and cotton – as well as for very simple, geometric, square or rectangular forms with rounded corners. This family comprises three pouffes in several sizes, one of which incorporates a wooden tray you can rest a drink or other objects on. These pieces’ shapes make them fun and versatile, since they suit all styles of interior. They can be used as a seat at the foot of a bed, as a banquette in a smart café or as small island-like pieces of furniture in a public reception area.
Nadadora was founded by Isaac Piñeiro and Cristina Alonso in 2006. Its projects and way of working are marked by conceptual clarity and simplicity; the studio aims to make work that can be understood at first glance and so is accessible. It has collaborated with such companies as Sagen Ceramics, Almerich, La Murrina, Serralunga, Kendo Mobiliario, Balvi and Ferrero Italia. For the latter, Nadadora designed the Corolla tray that won first prize in the Design for Nutella 2008 competition. For Sancal, it has designed two other collections – the Chat and Tab stools – and, once again, the company has wowed the public with its Elephant pouffes.
