Made in collaboration with interior designer Lorenzo Castillo.
Well-established design company Gastón y Daniela has unveiled a new, upscale home fabrics collection, created by high-profile interior designer Lorenzo Castillo. It springs from designs Castillo has tried to buy for himself in the past – in vain. These range from basic fabrics, such as velvets and chintzes, to more daring ones with just the right degree of craziness to them. Among the latter, particularly arresting are the geometric, Op Art-inspired motifs on the Lolo and Ramon ranges and patchwork-influenced design Pepa, which creates a truly hypnotic optical effect.
Castillo is an antiques dealer and well-known Spanish interior designer. One of his most iconic projects is his refurbishment of Loewe boutiques in a number of cities – including Madrid, Shanghai and Hong Kong – and of Madrid’s Museo del Traje (Museum of Costume). He’s designed the interiors of private homes and various hotels, including several from the Room Mate hotel chain. He has also recently undertaken the interior decoration of the living rooms of Hotel Santo Mauro in Madrid. Forthcoming projects include the interior design of a Spanish restaurant in London, formerly an HQ of Lloyd’s Bank.
Established in 1876, Gastón y Daniela is one of Spain’s leading high-end, home fabrics companies. Its designs can be seen in the world’s major markets in countless showrooms and through distributors scattered across the globe.
