A versatile, new-look door wedge that’s easy to use and store.
Once again, Héctor Diego has thought about how to make our everyday lives more practical. This time, he’s come up with Lock, a door wedge that is a reinterpretation of a classic door wedge but more functional, versatile and modern alternative.
Lock’s form is inspired by the shape of a keyhole. When not in use, it can be stored by hanging it on a door handle; the design is also stackable which is useful for those who own more than one. Unobtrusive and elegant, this compact, rounded piece will suit any type of space. The hole at its centre allows the user to handle it comfortably, place it on the floor and pick it up easily in an intuitive way. Lock is made of hardwearing, flexible, lightweight, state-of-the-art injection-moulded plastic, ensuring that it’s durable and unbreakable. It’s available in several colours and is 100% recyclable at the end of its lifespan.
It’s not the first time Diego has wowed us with his ingenious devices for doors. A year ago, he designed the HD door stopper for the company Brico-Tec, which in 2013 scooped the prestigious Good Design Award in Chicago, in the home accessories category. It’s now part of the permanent collection of the Chicago Atheneaum Museum of Architecture and Design.
In 2001, Diego founded his own studio in Valencia, where he undertakes industrial design, art direction, exhibition stand design and launches new products. Working with such well-known firms as Toyota, De la Oliva, Koo International, Viccarbe, Kendo, LZF Lamps and Miele, he creates objects with added value and a timeless aesthetic that transcends fleeting fashion.
