A lamp which fuses Scandinavian and Mediterranean design, created for Nordic Tales.
Spanish designer Jordi López Aguiló has created the Collar lamp for Danish firm Nordic Tales. This combines the clean lines and simplicity of Scandinavian design wih the elegance of Mediterranean design.
The first reaction Collar provokes, quite simply, is astonishment. It comprises three parts: a base made of hand-turned oak, a replaceable LED light and a shade made from powder-coated steel in an organic shape. The shade can be rotated allowing the user to control the light’s intensity and create whatever mood he or she desires. The way the lamp combines cold steel and warm wood makes it aesthetically pleasing. It’s available as a table lamp and wall light. Another version — a floor light — is currently in development.
In 2012, architect and designer Jordi López Aguiló founded his studio, Kutarq, with the aim of creating products with which their users could interact and which could influence their moods and encourage the use of recycled materials. All its products are the result of a complex process in which tests, experimentation and research all play an important role in the designs’ development. Their style is eclectic and constantly evolving, which allows the company to work for such international firms as Millelumen in Germany, Nayada in Russia, OFS Brands in the US, Eno Studio and Ticolas in France and Mago Urban in Spain.
