An armchair with crisply defined planes by La Cubitera.
Koo International, the upholstered furniture company, has unveiled its new armchair, Lua, designed by the studio, La Cubitera. It’s La Cubitera’s first piece for this Spanish company.
Lua is a highly individual design with strongly defined seams and a cocooning form. Its visible stitching delineates its planes and gives it a sense of movement. And its different planes give it a structure like a compact shell that envelops the sitter. The new design comes either entirely upholstered or with exposed wooden legs. Another of its features is its small scale.
La Cubitera was founded about eight years ago in Valencia by designers Víctor Pinto and Javier Esteve. Since then, it has undertaken a wide variety of projects, such as product design for companies like Sancal and Megamobiliario, interior design and corporate branding (websites and promotional material).
Koo International is a Valencia-based company founded in 1998 by Antonio Muñoz. One of the secrets of its success is its impressive aptitude for perfectly combining the experience and know-how of its staff with the latest technology for manufacturing upholstered furniture. What’s more, its pieces, suited to both domestic and commercial contexts, are designed by such high-profile names as Carlos Tíscar, Francesc Rifé, Héctor Diego, Odosdesign and Lagranja, among others.
