A timeless table, designed by Jesús Gasca.
Once again, Stua has wowed us with its latest product – the Lau table, a new piece in wood, created by designer Jesús Gasca, who founded this high-profile, Spanish firm in 1983. His work is marked by an emphasis on cutting-edge technology, while its pared-down, innovative forms are a true reflection of his personality.
As with all his other work, Gasca wanted to create a timeless design that doesn’t bring to mind any particular era or style. The table is entirely made of ash and its main feature is the way its legs and top fuse seamlessly. Inspired by organic forms, the legs lean and, as they rise up, widen out in a curve where they join the table top. Thanks to this one, economical yet effective feature, this design has huge visual impact – and looks very individual.
Based in San Sebastián, on the north coast of Spain, Stua manufactures a varied collection of contemporary-looking designs – chairs, tables, stools, sofas, modular and outdoor furniture and storage units, all suitable for both domestic and public spaces.
The company has contributed to many international projects, notably supplying furniture to the new Acropolis Museum in Athens and to gallery spaces and offices in The Guggenheim in New York. Its furniture can also be seen in such iconic public places as the Dubai Mall (the world’s biggest shopping centre, located in the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the world’s tallest building) and in Microsoft’s main offices in the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
