Punt Mobles’s simple, gorgeous trolley.
When someone from Tahiti hears the word Mai Tai, he or she understands it to mean ‘good’. To those who’ve had the eponymous drink, it’s a delicious tropical, rum-based cocktail. And now we can enjoy one while resting it on the new Mai Tai trollery created by Odosdesign for Punt Mobles, the innovative, contemporary domestic and contract furniture company.
Odosdesign’s starting point when designing this cute trolley was to create a very pared-down form but one with enough character to make it memorable. It’s a very simple piece whose distinctive features are its intersecting elements and mix of natural wood and pastel tones. Essentially, the concept behind it was to maximise the impact of this handy trolley.
Valencia-based studio Odosdesign was co-founded in 2005 by Luis Calabuig, María Mengual and Ana Segovia. Its first big success was its collapsible parasol Ensombra for Gandía Blasco, which has garnered various awards. Since then, it’s produced original furniture and homeware for such other firms as Do+Ce, Sancal, Viccarbe, Punt Mobles, Arlex, Koo International and La Mediterránea. Aside from Mai Tai, this year Odosdesign has created the Pillows collection of cushions for Viccarbe.
