Mormedi’s eNest scoops a 2103 Red Dot prize

A practical, personal emergency response device. 

Mormedi, the Spanish innovation and product design consultancy, has won this year’s prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its eNest design, a personal, emergency response device. Mormedi competed against 4,662 other entries submitted by 49 countries.

The eNest device – primarily intended for the elderly and people with disabilities – is a discreet object incorporating a panic SOS button. When pressed, this sends a message to an Emergency Response Centre informing it of the user’s location, thanks to a GPS system. Moreover, eNest sounds alarms automatically whenever the user can’t activate the panic button, thanks to a sensor that responds to falls or immobility. The device can be carried in a bag or pocket or attached to a rubber bracelet worn on the arm.

The prize Mormedi received – presented in Essen, Germany – recognises the good quality, innovation and design of eNest, which was created by Nestwork, a company that specialises in emergency response and location devices.

It’s not the first time Mormedi has received a prestigious, international prize. Last year, among other awards, it scooped the IF Product Award – one of the most prestigious, international design prizes, given for excellence and innovation in design – for its Neo convection electric heaters, manufactured by Spanish company Effisense.
