The Norr lamp, designed by Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm for Spanish lighting company Arturo Álvarez, doesn’t conceal its Scandinavian heritage. After all, it’s made of tactile wool and wood – typically Nordic materials – which not only create a warm, inviting ambience but invite you to touch and feel them.
With this light, Arturo Álvarez wanted to produce a lamp that can be seen simultaneously as a piece of furniture in its own right and one which people can interact with. In fact, a handle on it allows you to move the lamp to wherever it’s most needed.
The shade, made of six strips of wool joined together with zips, so the pieces of fabric can also be removed, is designed so its colours can be changed.
Arturo Álvarez’s lighting can be described in a multitude of ways but never as conventional. It always tries to experiment with different materials, such as silicone, metallic mesh and plywood. The resulting designs are innovative, beautiful, well-considered, hard-wearing and transcend mere fashion. Sensitivity, wit, innovation and technical experimentation are all hallmarks of this brand.
We integrate architecture, branding, and product design into one coherent, cross-cutting vision
