It will furnish a research centre at the University of Costa Rica.
Office furniture manufacturer Ofita, which is based in the city of Vitoria, northern Spain, has just won the international competition to supply furniture to the University of Costa Rica’s Centre for Research and Training in Public Administration, having competed against major international companies in this sector.
The Spanish company will furnish this centre’s lecture rooms, offices, meeting rooms and auditorium with some of its latest designs, such as its foldable Meta table, its Nexa chair for public spaces, Mizar sofa, modular furniture system called Gen and Dhara office chair, among others.
Ofita is currently growing by 30 per cent on the international market, thanks to contracts won in the Middle East, Europe and Latin America to furnish businesses, financial institutions and public government agencies such as Riyad Bank, HSBC in Saudi Arabia, Mercedes Benz in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as well as the international premises of such Spanish companies as Inditex, Telefónica and BBVA in different countries, for example, Uruguay, Peru, Russia and India.
Ofita’s growth in foreign markets is the result of its commitment to innovation. The company invests five per cent of its revenue in research and development, the continuous creation of new products – some of the most recent being the Fresh furniture system and Iroha chair – and in encouraging the diversification of its activities with new lines of business such as the contract market, Ofita Health Care (which specialises in furniture for sanitary spaces), libraries and Campus Área (furniture for universities, business schools and training centres). Ofita exports over 20 per cent of its goods, and has its own showrooms in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Doha in Qatar, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
