Iroha is its first intelligent office chair by Isao Hosoe.
Ofita, the company that specialises in office furniture, has just launched new versions of its Iroha chair, the firm’s first intelligent office chair, originally created by Japanese designer Isao Hosoe in 2011. The new versions come in a white, grey or black finish. Yet another version is an ergonomic chair that incorporates a headrest.
Iroha stands out for its ergonomic, unique design. Sitters don’t have to work out how to sit in the chair since it allows them to sit properly in an unconscious, automatic way. The knowledge that the distance between the elbow and lumbar height is constant, regardless of a person’s height – knowledge which Hosoe patented – has been applied to the chair. The arms and lumbar support are joined in such a way that whenever the sitter adjusts the height of the armrests, the lumbar support automatically moves to the correct position. The depth of the chair’s seat can also be adjusted to suit individual tastes.
Ofita was founded in 1969 in Vitoria, northern Spain, and since then has specialised in designs for workspaces. Since 1988, Hosoe aside, it has collaborated with such high-profile designers as Josep Lluscà, Lievore Altherr Molina and King & Miranda when creating its products. And since 2000, apart from furniture, the company has offered a complete service, from planning and designing spaces to fully equipping offices and turnkey delivery. It currently also offers products for libraries and the contract market.
