New tables and a stool complete this collection designed by Nadia Arratibel.
Guipúzkoa-based company Ondarreta has augmented its collection of Bob chairs — originally created by architect Nadia Arratibel in 2012 — with a new stool and various tall and low tables which complete this homely family of furniture.
The Bob collection — comprising pieces that exude charm and are conducive to total relaxation — is inspired by the softly organic contours of nature. Influenced by Nordic design, Bob’s curves enhance the warmth and beauty of its materials. The chairs’ and stool’s frames are made of varnished or lacquered beech, while the casing is made of beech ply, which comes varnished, lacquered or in a combination of wood and upholstery. The tables have solid beech or oak frames, while the tops can come in a wood laminate resting on birch ply with a bevelled edge or in solid beech or oak.
Founded in 1977, Ondarreta is a family-run business that manufactures tables, chairs and stools for the domestic and contract markets. Its name is taken from the beautiful Basque beach of Ondarreta, which is a few minutes’ away from the firm’s HQ. The collections of the company, which is passionate about interior design and architecture, grace restaurants and cafés in such innovative buildings as the Basque Culinary Center and Kursaal Convention Center, both in San Sebastián.
Arratibel studied at London’s prestigious Architectural Association School of Architecture and at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura (The School of Architecture) at the University of Navarra. She now heads up the design team at Ondarreta, for which she’s created various pieces.
