A table lamp created by Jaime Hayón and inspired by ancient Chinese ceramic jars.
Young Barcelona-based decorative lighting firm Parachilna has once again collaborated with acclaimed Spanish designerJaime Hayón. This time around, Hayón has created the Chinoz family of table lamps, based on the classic Chinese ceramic jar, for the firm.
Chinoz is the second collection Hayón has designed for Parachilna, following on the from the success of the first — the Aballs collection. With Chinoz, Hayón has reinterpreted the aesthetic of time-honoured Chinese jars yet, while nodding to the past, has created a thoroughly contemporary design. Chinoz is a versatile piece which lends itself to a wide range of combinations, given that its main body, base and diffusor, which come in different colours, can be mixed and matched. The enamelled ceramic body is available in pale green, red or a finish called ‘Ming’, which references Chinese porcelain, the base is finished in burgundy, black or ochre and its frosted glass diffusor is available in matt white or glossy black.
Parachilna was founded with the clear aim of creating luxury ítems. It defines these as being honest in their design, valuing noble materials and the hand-crafted and trying to preserve the skills and know-how of Europe’s few remaining metal, ceramics and glass workshops. Meanwhile, it is firmly committed to creating lighting in collaboration with designers from all over the world. Hayón aside, its first collections were produced in collaboration with designers Stephen Burks and Jordi Veciana.
