Pujol Iluminación unveils Compass

A spectacular floor lamp designed by Jordi Busquets.

Spanish lighting manufacturer Pujol Iluminación has unveiled its new design, Compass – a large floor lamp designed by Jordi Busquets, which is intended to illuminate large spaces in a unique way.

Compass is made of polished aluminium and has a pared-down, Y-shaped base that minimises the amount of space the lamp takes up. Height-adjustable and with a horizontal arm that measures 260cm, this highly practical light is suitable for all types of rooms. The light source – which can be fitted with four dimmable or four low-energy lightbulbs – is also very considered. The lamp has a 50-cm diameter shade made of a black fabric, which incorporates a methacrylate diffuser with a black fabric finish that diffuses the light, creating a magical atmosphere. The lamp’s ultra clean-lined, neutral aesthetic makes it equally suited to residential and public interiors that place an emphasis on good design.

Busquets is a Barcelona-based designer who founded his studio in 1987, and now designs furniture and consumer goods. Over the years, he’s designed furniture for such companies as Joquer, Crom2, Ferfor and Rocada; lighting for Blauet, Odel Lux and Codialpo, and various household goods such firm as Valira, among other things.

Pujol Iluminación has been making contemporary lighting for 35 years. It exports 50 per cent of its designs to over 40 countries scattered across five continents.
